Cookies to Increase Milk Supply

Calling all Nursing Mama’s!

If you are worried about milk supply for any reason, and want to try as many natural options as possible, this recipe is a terrific place to start! Filled with wholesome key ingredients such as oats, brewers yeast, coconut oil, and flax, these cookies are packed with lactation boosting properties that are sure to stimulate your body in all the right ways. Plus, they are healthy for the entire family and a great excuse to EAT COOKIES! 

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 3/4 cups oats
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cups almond or peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup milled flax
  • 3 tbsp brewer's yeast
  • 1/3 cups water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup nuts of your choice


Feel free to add unsweetened flaked coconut, or 1-2 tablespoons of almond butter. 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, whisk together oats, flour, yeast, flaxseed, baking powder, soda, cinnamon and salt. In the bowl of your electric mixer, beat butter and coconut oil on medium speed until creamy. Add in sugar and beat on medium to high until fluffy, about 4 or 5 minutes, scraping bowl when you need to. Add in the egg and egg yolk, and beat until combined Add in vanilla and beat until combined. Gradually add in dry ingredients, beating on low until just combined and mixed. Stir in the chocolate and nuts.

Scoop dough into 1 inch rounds and place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Back for 10 - 14 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown. Let cool before storing in a sealed container.

** You can easily freeze the dough, just scoop into rounds and place on a baking sheet to freeze, then place the rounds in a ziplock bag and put back into the freezer**

**Swap out coconut oil for butter if you want, just use same amount. If you chose to use more coconut oil instead of butter, just know your cookies will spread out further**
